I see something you do not: Eye movement modelling examples do not improve anomaly detection in interpreting medical images

چکیده
Background When interpreting medical images such as dental panoramic radiographs (Orthopanthomogram, OPT), errors are frequent. Previous research has shown that eye movement modelling examples (EMME) a supportive training method for image interpretation to reduce errors. To date, EMME support OPTs not been verified. Objectives We investigated whether with and verbal explanations supports students in evaluating OPTs. Methods Dental were randomly assigned an intervention (N = 42) or control group 41). The received the between pre- post-test. In laboratory study, we measured students' gaze behaviour during detection rate of anomalies. Results conclusions led fewer, shorter, later fixations on anomalies no difference visual coverage OPT. did improve. replicated latter finding online study 31). Students may have able apply information from detect reading processes changed more efficient rather than deeper search. Major takeaways This evaluated anomaly EMMEs improve their search process toward

Do You See What I See?
Studying visual illusions is critical to understanding typical visual perception. We investigated whether rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) and capuchin monkeys (Cebus apella) perceived the Delboeuf illusion in a similar manner as human adults (Homo sapiens). To test this, in Experiment 1, we presented monkeys and humans with a relative discrimination task that required subjects to choose the lar...

متن کاملWhich Learning Style Do You Prefer to Improve EFL Learning?
The term "learning styles" refers to the concept that individuals differ in regard to what mode of instruction or study is most effective for them. Proponents of learningstyle assessment contend that optimal instruction requires diagnosing individuals' learning style and tailoring instruction accordingly (pashler, McDaniel, Rohrer, and Bjork, 2009). There are several methods or theories that d...
متن کاملSaccadic omission: why we do not see a grey-out during a saccadic eye movement.
We investigated why we have no perception of a smeared image resuhing from the reduction in contrast (grey-out) occurring at the retina during saccadic eye movements. By turning on light in the experimental room only during the eye movement. we were able to show that this grey-out was perceived as a smeared image of the visual scene. However, when the exnerimental room was illuminated before an...

Like many people my age, I wear bifocal glasses and, rather than adapt to trifocals, have one pair of glasses for everyday use and a different pair of glasses for computer use. Even so, the small fonts, haphazard color combinations, and myriad of activity that can appear on a Web page or in a program frequently results in difficult reading and eye fatigue. There are three ways to combat this po...
